ATLANTA (AP) - A prostitute charged with torturing a client and leaving him to die while bound and gagged has been sentenced to life in prison.

The Atlanta Journal-Constitution reports (https://on-ajc.com/1hBKRSN ) 40-year-old Tamieka Gamble was sentenced Wednesday after being found guilty of murder in the death of 64-year-old Edward Jowers.

Jowers’ body was found in his Atlanta apartment Aug. 9, 2010. Prosecutors say Gamble and Mark Ross, her boyfriend and pimp, came to the apartment and tied Jowers with cables while covering his head with linens.

Prosecutors say the couple slashed Jowers’ back with a knife while demanding money, then fled. He died from “mechanical asphyxiation.”

Authorities say the case went cold until last year when Ross’ DNA was found on a cigarette butt from the scene. Both Ross and Gamble later confessed.
