EMERSON, Ga. (AP) - Authorities say a woman is dead after a tractor-trailer stopped beside a Georgia highway rolled downhill away from its driver and collided with a pickup truck.

The crash happened Thursday night in Bartow County. Police say emergency crews worked two hours to free a man, toddler and infant trapped inside the truck. A woman traveling with them was killed. She was not immediately identified.

Emerson Police Chief Stan Bradley said a tractor-trailer driver was conducting a safety inspection alongside Joe Frank Harris Parkway when the big truck rolled away from him. Bradely said the rig’s parking brake either failed or was never engaged.

Police say the truck driver, Ivan Delgado of Rome, New York, was charged with drunken driving. It was not immediately known if he had an attorney.
