SALT LAKE CITY (AP) - Authorities say they’ve found the body of a 23-year-old man who died attempting a double backflip off a cliff at a reservoir north of Salt Lake City.

The Salt Lake Tribune (https://bit.ly/1PsffdD) reports that searchers found Matt Heffernan’s body Saturday morning at the Causey Reservoir hours after he jumped from the 60-foot cliff into the water below and never resurfaced.

Weber County Sheriff’s Lt. Brandon Toll says Heffernan and two friends went Friday to a little known diving cliff dubbed “King Kong” and the man was on his fifth jump of the day. His friends say they jumped in after him but couldn’t find him.

Crews who had been searching in kayaks, boats and jet skis the night before until 11 p.m. found him Saturday 50-feet below the water’s surface.
