ABERDEEN, S.D. (AP) - An Aberdeen man is in critical condition after police say he was shot in the head early Saturday morning.

Aberdeen police were called to the Hampton Inn and Suites just after 5 a.m. Officers arrested a 19-year-old man from Fort Collins, Colorado, on suspicion of felony aggravated assault in connection with the shooting.

The mother of the man who was shot tells The American News (https://bit.ly/1NiYwdk ) that her son is out of surgery at Avera McKennan Hospital in Sioux Falls. She said he is in critical but stable condition and is in the intensive care unit.

Chief deputy state’s attorney Chris White says his office will have more details on the shooting on Monday.
