WILLIAMSBURG, Ky. (AP) - The Whitley County sheriff says a woman who fired shots at two 8-year-old twins she was babysitting doesn’t remember doing it.

WLEX-TV reports (https://bit.ly/1IRyhWe) the children ran to a nearby house at about 11:15 p.m. last Sunday, saying their baby sitter had threated to kill them and fired shots.

Sheriff Colan Harrell says when a deputy arrived to investigate Lorie Cornett came to the door with a loaded and cocked pistol. Harrell says the gun had two spent cartridges, and three empty cartridges were found nearby.

Harrell says Cornett told the deputy she was on medication and drinking. She did not remember the children being with her.

She is charged with three counts of wanton endangerment and is free on bond. A phone number listed for Cornett was disconnected.
