SPLUNGE, Miss. (AP) - Authorities in Monroe County, Mississippi, say a body found July 31 has been identified as that of an Alabama man reported missing July 27.

Coroner Alan Gurley tells the Monroe County Journal (https://bit.ly/1Nl7MO9 ) he was told Friday that dental records make it certain the man was 28-year-old Johnny Pace of Sulligent, Alabama.

His body was found in the community of Splunge, about 10 miles north of Greenwell Springs. Gurley says it took a couple of weeks to get all the records needed to the state medical examiner and for them to complete their analysis.

He says the autopsy did not find any trauma. Gurley says decomposition from the heat may make it impossible to tell the exact cause of death, but investigators believe Pace died of natural causes.
