BISMARCK, N.D. (AP) - A groundbreaking ceremony is slated for a new highway bypass around the North Dakota oil patch town of Killdeer.

Gov. Jack Dalrymple and other officials are planning the ceremony Tuesday for the bypass that will route truck traffic around the Dunn County town, connecting state Highway 200 with state Highway 22.

Bypasses are becoming a common solution for oil patch communities to divert all but local traffic. Other cities with bypasses or planned projects include Williston, Watford City, Alexander and New Town.
