TULSA, Okla. (AP) - Tulsa police say an officer was shot in the leg on the city’s north side while chasing a suspect on foot.

Police told the Tulsa World that Cpl. Gene Watkins was shot in the right leg Sunday afternoon and taken to a local hospital in undisclosed condition.

Police say the incident began when officers stopped a man to serve a warrant in a domestic violence case. Police say the man drove away before finally stopping and trying to run away.

Officers say Watkins was shot during the foot chase and that the suspect was not in custody.
