DUBUQUE, Iowa (AP) - The company proposing a transmission line to carry electricity between Iowa and Wisconsin is working to find the best route for it.

The Dubuque Telegraph Herald reports (https://bit.ly/1K0yGda ) ITC Midwest is trying to determine the best option among seven places to cross the Mississippi River and finalize a route for the rest of the 125-mile-long project.

Dubuque leaders have already said they oppose a possible route through the city, but officials in other communities along the proposed route have yet to weigh in on the transmission line.

ITC spokesman Tom Petersen says the company is trying to find the route with the least impact on the environment.

The company hopes to build the line stretching from near Madison, Wis., to Dubuque County in 2019.
