ASTORIA, Ore. (AP) - The Astoria City Council is considering a ban on tobacco use in city parks.

The Daily Astorian reports (https://bit.ly/1TMUsam ) that the council will discuss the potential ban Monday. The ban would apply to traditional parks as well as popular tourist attractions such as the Astoria Riverwalk and the Garden of Surging Waves.

Clatsop County banned smoking in county parks earlier this year, but Warrenton, Gearhart, Seaside and Cannon Beach do not prohibit smoking. The county ban took effect in June.
