JACKSON, Tenn. (AP) - The Tennessee National Guard’s 194th Engineer Brigade has a new commander.

The Jackson-headquartered brigade held a change of command ceremony on Aug. 8. He is Col. James B. Bishop, a Brownsville native.

Bishop replaces Col. Lyndon C. Johnson, who is retiring this month.

Johnson took command of the brigade on Sept. 1, 2013.

The National Guard says Bishop graduated from Haywood High School in 1983 and holds a bachelor’s degree from Liberty University in Lynchburg, Virginia. He enlisted in the Tennessee Army National Guard as a private first class in 1984 and later received a commission from the Tennessee Military Academy in 1988 as a second lieutenant.
