DOUGLAS, Ga. (AP) - Authorities say a southwest Georgia woman is critically wounded after being shot in the head by her 4-year-old son.

WALB-TV reports (https://bit.ly/1NotO2z ) investigators suspect the shooting in Coffee County was an accident because the child apparently thought the gun was a toy.

The Georgia Bureau of Investigation says the shooting happened Sunday night as the woman and her son were sitting in a car parked in front of their home near Douglas. The GBI says the boy found the gun, picked it up and pulled the trigger.

The GBI did not immediately release the name of the woman who was shot. Authorities say she was flown to a hospital in critical condition.
