MERIDIAN, Miss. (AP) - Ever since Kathy Brookshire became executive director of the Meridian Community College Foundation some 15 years ago, she had a dream - that one day someone would walk through her office door and donate $1 million in support of MCC students.

The Meridian Star reports (https://bit.ly/1IXMiBL) this summer MCC alumnus David Quave made Brookshire’s dream come true. Quave’s donation, which he recently made official at a local gathering of MCC trustees, staff and some of his closest old friends, is thought to be the largest sum ever provided to MCC by a single individual.

MCC President Dr. Scott Elliott called the donation “historic.”

The next step was for Quave to work with Elliott and his staff to determine how his donation might be specifically utilized.
