LINCOLNVILLE, Maine (AP) - Maine’s state fire marshal’s office says the cause of a fire that killed a married couple in Linconville cannot be determined because of the fire’s extensive damage.

The Saturday night fire killed 81-year-old Eugene Dyer and his 79-year-old wife, Virginia. Investigators say the fire started in a storage-entry area between the house and a garage. Authorities say there is nothing to indicate the fire is anything other than an accident.

The state medical examiner’s investigation shows the Dyers died from smoke inhalation.
