ALTMAR, N.Y. (AP) - The state-owned Salmon River Fish Hatchery in Oswego County is going to be closed to the public for a few days while the roof is replaced.

The Department of Environmental Conservation says the hatchery will be closed to the public Aug. 24 - 26.

The agency says the half-million-dollar project to replace the 25-year old deteriorated roof was identified as a critical infrastructure project to be completed with NY Works funding.

DEC’s Rome Hatchery is open to the public and is located on Route 46 north of the City of Rome.
