HOT SPRINGS, Ark. (AP) - Hot Springs officials say City Manager David Watkins has died after sustaining injuries from an accidental fall at his home. He was 61.

The city said in a statement that Watkins died early Monday at the University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences in Little Rock. It said that Watkins’ family would appreciate the thoughts and prayers of the community and asks for privacy at this time.

City spokeswoman Terry Payne told The Associated Press that she didn’t have further details about how Watkins fell on Saturday.

Watkins had been city manager since 2012. Payne said Deputy City Manager Bill Burrough has been appointed interim city manager for the time being.
