CASPER, Wyo. (AP) - Activists are collecting signatures to get a medical marijuana measure on the November ballot.

KTWO-AM reports (https://bit.ly/1DYi7Om) Wyoming’s chapter of the National Organization for the Reform of Marijuana Laws spent the weekend distributing petitions and working toward acquiring 25,673 signatures.

The group’s goal is to submit twice the required signatures by Feb. 8 to ensure the Secretary of State’s office declares enough valid to prompt a vote.

The Wyoming Medical Society has announced it is against the measure, and the Wyoming Association of Sheriffs and Chiefs of Police is planning an anti-pot educational campaign.
