PHILADELPHIA (AP) - Police say a 6-year-old girl is recovering after suffering broken bones in a hit-and-run collision in northeast Philadelphia.

Police have charged 27-year-old Mark Edwards with criminal mischief, accident damage and related offenses.

Police say the incident began around 6:58 p.m. Saturday when Edwards was driving east on Magee Avenue and his vehicle struck a car that was turning left onto Large Street. Police say Edwards fled that crash and turned left onto Sylvester Street, where his car mounted the curb and struck the girl on the sidewalk.

Police say Edwards continued to drive on the sidewalk and struck three parked cars before he got out of his vehicle and ran away.

Witnesses helped police track Edwards.

It’s not known if Edwards has a lawyer who can comment on the charges.
