HANCOCK, Md. (AP) - The Maryland State Highway Administration is starting a project that will restrict traffic on a Potomac River bridge near Hancock to one lane on weekdays through the rest of August.

The project begins Monday. The bridge on U.S. 522 connects Washington County to Berkeley County, West Virginia.

The agency says the lane closure will be in effect Monday through Friday, from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.

Crews are replacing worn bridge joints. The highway administration says the work will improve the ride for 11,000 motorists who cross the bridge daily.
