STEAMBOAT SPRINGS, Colo. (AP) - The 5th annual USA Pro Cycling Challenge is under way with a two-lap circuit race in and around Steamboat Springs.

Monday’s route includes five climbs, including one King of the Mountain checkpoint.

In the absence of two-time champion Tejay van Garderen, Rohan Dennis of Australia and teammate Damiano Caruso of Italy are among the favorites in this year’s race.

The men’s race will also pass through Summit County, Aspen and Fort Collins and Loveland before ending Sunday with a stage from Golden to Denver.

The inaugural three-day women’s stage race will start Friday and end Sunday with a circuit race in Golden.
