MILLVILLE, W.Va. (AP) - Police in Jefferson County say a Virginia man has drowned in the Shenandoah River.

Sheriff’s Cpl. Dustin Tabler tells The Herald-Mail (https://bit.ly/1NAJn5h) that 29-year-old Norelvi Francisco of Herndon, Virginia, was trying to walk through some rapids when his foot became caught under a rock Sunday. Tabler says the river’s current caused Francisco to fall.

Tabler says Francisco’s brother identified the body after it was recovered. Tabler says Francisco was in the area with some relatives but they were not with him at the time of the accident.

The drowning occurred south of Millville.
