CLARKSBURG, W.Va. (AP) - A Fairmont man has pleaded guilty in the deaths of four people in Clarksburg, including two newspaper carriers.

Sidney A. Muller was charged in the fatal shootings of 29-year-old Todd Russell Amos, 26-year-old Christopher Hart, 70-year-old Fred Swiger and his son, 47-year-old Freddie Swiger, in July 2013.

Media outlets report Muller pleaded guilty Monday in Harrison County Circuit Court to first-degree murder in the Swigers’ deaths and second-degree murder in the deaths of Amos and Hart.

Police say the shootings of Hart and Amos inside an apartment in July 2013 were drug-related. The Swigers were bystanders who were delivering newspapers.

Muller’s trial had been scheduled to start Monday.

A judge has scheduled a hearing Oct. 26 to decide whether to accept Muller’s plea.
