WOODBRIDGE, Va. (AP) - Police say a 1-year-old girl left alone in a Woodbridge home accidentally called 911, leading to criminal charges against a 56-year-old woman.

The girl was not injured.

Police say they responded to a 911 call Sunday night coming from a home on Royal Court in Woodbridge. Officers found the front door open when they arrived, and the baby girl inside the home alone.

A short time later, police say a family member, Felicita Ortiz Sorto, returned to the home.

After an investigation, Ortiz Sorto was arrested and charged with abandoning an infant, a felony.

Police spokesman Jonathan Perok said he had no information on exactly how the baby managed to call 911.
