TONOPAH, Ariz. (AP) - Maricopa County sheriff’s deputies say they believe a man and a woman found dead along a remote road about 50 miles west of Phoenix were killed.

Deputy Joaquin Enriquez says both were shot and homicide detectives have been assigned to investigate.

A man who spotted a woman’s body alongside the road called deputies about 5:45 a.m. Tuesday. Deputies found a dead man about 100 yards away while investigating the scene.

Enriquez says detectives can’t yet rule out a murder-suicide but believe that someone else shot the man and woman.

No identifications have been released. Enriquez says the pair appeared to be in their 20s or 30s.
