TAMA, Iowa (AP) - Authorities say two women have been injured in a three-vehicle crash near Tama that involved a semitrailer.

The Iowa State Patrol says the crash happened around 4:30 a.m. on Highway 30 near the Meskwaki casino. The driver of the semitrailer was attempting to make a U-turn when a car collided with it in the back.

Authorities say the crash left the semitrailer blocking a portion of a lane, which caused a second car to hit the larger vehicle.

Des Moines television station KCCI reports (https://bit.ly/1TRtwB9 ) two women inside the car that initially collided with the semitrailer were injured and taken to a local hospital. Additional information about their conditions was not released.

The crash remains under investigation.
