MOSS POINT, Miss. (AP) - Bids from four contractors came in between $1.4 million and $967,600 for the demolition and rebuilding of the Dantzler Street bridge in Moss Point.

The Sun Herald reports (https://bit.ly/1K3li8e) the project is an economic development issue to accommodate boat traffic in and out of the new Pascagoula River Audubon Center.

County Supervisor Melton Harris said the county will consider the bids and likely pick a contractor at the Sept. 8 meeting.

Dantzler Street is the main route to Moss Point High School’s football stadium. Harris said originally they hoped the bridge work would be complete before the Audubon Center opened in October and before the middle of football season.

But he said the county is allowing six months to finish the project, which may put the completion in early 2016.
