LAS VEGAS (AP) - Prosecutors in Las Vegas say a teenager will be tried as an adult in the shooting death of a 24-year-old woman as she aided two females attempting to elude several males chasing them in April.

An aide to Clark County District Attorney Steve Wolfson says a judge certified the boy on Monday to face murder, attempted murder and weapon charges in the April 17 slaying of Cassandra Lee Cassidy.

Arraignment is scheduled April 24.

Police say Cassidy was killed after lending her phone to one of the females who approached her as she arrived at a substance abuse center where she worked west of downtown Las Vegas.

Homicide detectives later distributed cellphone video shot by one of the females, which prompted the teen’s mother to turn him over to police.
