GLOUCESTER, Va. (AP) - An estate built by a Revolutionary War privateer is going on the auction block.

The historic Lands End estate in Gloucester County is scheduled to be sold at auction on Aug. 23.

Express Auctioneers is handling the sale. Linda Makowski with Express Auctioneers tells The Daily Press (https://bit.ly/1TRc9Wr ) that the home has six bedrooms, five bathrooms, a kitchen, living room, family room, dining room and utility room. There also are 11 fireplaces.

The property also includes a two-car garage with apartment, a barn and a pier.

Lands End was built in 1786 by Captain John Sinclair. The 35-acre estate has been owned since 2000 by Jeff and Donna McDurmit.
