ST. GEORGE, Utah (AP) - Families in St. George will be able to learn more about themselves next fall after The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints completes its stand-alone family history library.

The Deseret News reports (https://bit.ly/1KszPGb ) that the church broke ground on the 13,500-square-foot St. George Family History Center Saturday.

CEO of the church’s FamilySearch International Dennis Brimhall says the church operates 4,800 family history centers worldwide, but the new St. George location incorporates interactive displays for quick information with traditional genealogical research in hopes of drawing in more visitors.

The focus on genealogy by Mormons is rooted in their belief that families should be the focal point of their lives, and that family relationships are eternal.

Similar facilities are planned for Seattle, Philadelphia and London.
