PROVIDENCE, R.I. (AP) - The I-195 Redevelopment District Commission has hired a hired a new executive director with decades of experience as a commercial real estate investor in markets across the nation.

Peter McNally was named to the post on Monday night.

The commission was created to be responsible authority for the sale, marketing and oversight of the 20 acres made available in downtown Providence as a result of the relocation of Interstate 195.

As executive director, McNally says his task is to attract “high value-add employers and new residents to the city.” He says he will work with developers, tenants, universities, investors, state leaders, city government, and other stakeholders to bring the vision for the land to reality.

McNally is a native of Somerset, Massachusetts. He replaces Jan Brodie and officially starts Sept. 1.
