BEND, Ore. (AP) - A mediator is joining the stalled contract negotiations that have been going on for months between St. Charles Bend and a nurses’ union.

The Bend Bulletin reports (https://bit.ly/1fnbcCa) the hospital and the Oregon Nurses Association disagree on a variety of contract points, including pay raises, overtime and benefits.

John Nangle is the chairman of the St. Charles Bend bargaining unit of the Oregon Nurses Association and says the employees want adequate pay and break times to prevent short-staffing.

The two sides will meet Sept. 1 and 2 to negotiate, with no deadline in place for approving the new contract.

St. Charles human resources vice president Rebecca Berry said in a statement that both sides are confident they will be able to reach an agreement.
