JACKSONVILLE, Fla. (AP) - A Jacksonville police officer fired two shots during a chase that led to the arrest of an armed robbery suspect.

The Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office says both shots fired Monday missed the suspect, who was wanted in the armed robbery of a grocery store.

Police spokesman Christian Hancock told the Florida Times-Union (https://bit.ly/1TNMskg ) that the officer spotted the suspect, tried to make contact and the suspect ran.

Police say the officer believed the suspect reached for his waistband and that the officer felt his life was in danger.

Authorities captured the man about an hour and a half later.
