DANVILLE, Va. (AP) - Archaeological surveys for the Mountain Valley Pipeline project are underway in Pittsylvania County.

The Danville Register and Bee reports (https://bit.ly/1hILl9M ) that company officials are surveying properties in Pittsylvania County to determine an appropriate route for the pipeline if it receives federal approval.

Company officials sought permission from about 120 landowners in Pittsylvania County to perform environmental and cultural resource surveys on their properties.

Mountain Valley Pipeline spokeswoman Natalie Cox tells the newspaper the surveys are likely to be finished this fall.
