PAWTUCKET, R.I. (AP) - Authorities are investigating after a 20-year-old man was shot in the groin in Pawtucket.

Police say they were called to Sanford Street for a report of shots fired Monday night and found the victim bleeding heavily from a gunshot wound to his groin.

Police say he was inside the house with several other people when gunshots were fired from outside the residence and he was hit.

The victim was taken to Rhode Island Hospital with injuries that were not considered life-threatening.

Police have not publicly identified him.

The shooting is under investigation.
