EUGENE, Ore. (AP) - A Springfield city councilor is facing a lawsuit from his tenants, who say they became sick from a mold infestation in the building.

The Eugene Register-Guard reports (https://bit.ly/1hlKGLu ) that City Councilor Joe Pishioneri said Monday morning that he wasn’t aware a lawsuit had been filed.

He did not comment further and has not yet filed a response in court.

Jamie M. White and her son, Ethan A. Nolte, filed the lawsuit seeking $211,680 in medical bills, lost wages and pain and suffering. The document filed Friday says they rented a home from Pishioneri in January 2014.

White and Nolte claim Pishioneri knew about the mold but painted over it.

According to the lawsuit, the building did not have effective weather protection and waterproofing.
