PHILADELPHIA (AP) - Police say a 15-year-old boy will be charged in the sexual assault and attempted murder of a 5-year-old girl in north Philadelphia.

Police say the incident took place overnight July 27 into July 28 when they say the teen broke into a home on North Hutchinson Street and abducted the girl.

The girl told her mother she woke up during the night and was walking down a hallway when the intruder appeared and led her out into the backyard.

She was found outside the next morning suffering from head fractures and other injuries after being beaten and sexually assaulted.

The charges of attempted murder, aggravated assault, kidnapping, rape, unlawful restraint, false imprisonment, sexual assault and other related offenses have been sent to the District Attorney’s Office for approval.
