TUSCALOOSA, Ala. (AP) - A jury has acquitted a Tuscaloosa man arrested and charged in a rape case three years ago.

The Tuscaloosa News reports (https://bit.ly/1JoVAfv ) 58-year-old Tyrone White was charged in July 2012, a few days after a 61-year-old woman told police a man had grabbed her, placed a bag over her head and sexually assaulted her behind a home.

White went on trial last week and the jury found him not guilty Friday. His defense attorney, Michael Upton, noted that White had “adamantly maintained his innocence” since his arrest.

Upton said one juror told him after the trial that there had been too many contradictions in the evidence presented by prosecutors to convict White.
