DAYTON, Ohio (AP) - A federal judge sentenced a western Ohio grandfather to serve 25 years in prison for photographing his sexual abuse of a young child.

The Dayton Daily News reports (https://bit.ly/1J0eP9C ) 62-year-old Jack Manning pleaded guilty in May to production of child pornography and attempted production of child pornography.

Assistant U.S. attorney Kyle Healey said “the depravity of Mr. Manning’s actions cannot be overstated” following Monday’s ruling in federal court in Dayton.

The Troy resident will register as a sex offender, undergo treatment and will be supervised if he is ever released.

Federal prosecutors say the case was brought as part of Project Safe Childhood, a nationwide initiative to protect children from online exploitation and abuse.

Manning’s step-grandson, Michael Epley, also pleaded guilty to two counts as a result of the investigation.
