VENICE, Fla. (AP) - Authorities say a fire at a southwest Florida condominium building killed one person and displaced more than a dozen others as it damaged four units.

The Sarasota County Fire Department reports that 28 firefighters responded to the Venice Gardens Towne Park Wednesday afternoon and had the blaze extinguished about two hours later.

Officials say a 48-year-old man was found dead in the most heavily damaged unit. His name wasn’t immediately released.

The Sarasota Herald-Tribune (https://goo.gl/N3b8uC ) reports that the State Fire Marshal’s Office is investigating the fire’s cause.
