BIRMINGHAM, Ala. (AP) - Alabama Department of Corrections officials are searching for an inmate who escaped from a job assignment in Shelby County.

Authorities say 32-year-old Coty Baker left a job assignment Wednesday afternoon in Sterrett and was wearing civilian clothing at the time. Sterrett is an unincorporated area roughly 30 miles east of downtown Birmingham.

Officials say Baker was serving a 20-year robbery sentence at the Childersburg Work Release Center.

Department of Corrections officials say Baker is white, about 5‘11 with brown hair, green eyes and tattoos on his neck and under his left eye.
