BATTLE CREEK, Mich. (AP) - A man faces charges after “bio-pyschal” was scratched into six memorials for Battle Creek police officers who died in the line of duty.

The Battle Creek Enquirer and WOOD-TV report Wednesday that the brass plaques on the Fallen Officer Memorial near the police department and City Hall were defaced Monday.

The man was arrested Tuesday. Police say they connected him to the vandalism of the memorials after a detective reported receiving emails and voicemails that included “bio-pyschal.” His name has not been released.

The man is believed to be homeless. Charges were expected to be filed Wednesday.

Battle Creek is southeast of Grand Rapids.
