CATONSVILLE, Md. (AP) - Baltimore County police say an 18-year-old Catonsville man is facing a murder charge in his father’s slaying.

Police say officers called to a home on Southridge Road on Tuesday found 50-year-old Shakeel Ahmed Abbasi with traumatic injuries and he died on the scene. Police say they found evidence of stab wounds and bludgeoning but an autopsy will be conducted to determine the cause of death.

Police say a relative in New Jersey called Abbasi’s wife after his son texted her asking her to check on Abbasi. His wife found Abbasi covered in blood and called 911. Police say their son, Muhammad Hasnet Shakeelabassi, was missing. He was later found at a rest stop in Bowmansville, Pennsylvania.

Police have an arrest warrant charging Shakeelabassi with first-degree murder. He is awaiting extradition.
