NEW ROCHELLE, N.Y. (AP) - Authorities say a 10-year-old child has died and another person was injured after being struck by a vehicle in Westchester.

It happened Tuesday afternoon in a parking area off Drake Avenue in New Rochelle.

Police say the two were hospitalized after the accident - one with life-threatening injuries and the other with injuries that were serious, but not life-threatening.

The Westchester County Medical Examiner’s Office told the Journal News (https://lohud.us/1MxkCrU ) the 10-year-old later died.

Witnesses told the newspaper the second person, a 12-year-old boy, did not appear to be badly hurt.

Police did not say how the accident happened. There have been no arrests.
