JACKSON, Miss. (AP) - Former Gov. Haley Barbour will tour Mississippi to promote his new book, “America’s Great Storm: Leading Through Hurricane Katrina.”

Republican Barbour co-wrote the book with Jere Nash, a Jackson-based Democratic political consultant.

Katrina struck on Aug. 29, 2005, leaving a wide swath of destruction across Louisiana and Mississippi.

Barbour’s promotional tour begins Saturday during the Mississippi Book Festival at the state Capitol.

He is scheduled to appear Saturday night in Greenwood; Sunday in Oxford; Monday in Tupelo and Starkville; Tuesday in Meridian and Jackson; Aug. 26 in Jackson, Laurel and Hattiesburg; Aug. 27 in Biloxi, Pass Christian and Bay St. Louis; and Aug. 28 in Long Beach.
