RENO, Nev. (AP) - A city lawyer who says he was wrongfully fired last year had a history of workplace conduct complaints against him.

The Reno Gazette-Journal reports (https://on.rgj.com/1gXUdHV ) that Jack Campbell was fired shortly after a complaint that he made a joke containing a lesbian slur following the deposition of a female police officer.

Records show that it was the third such complaint filed against him. Campbell was reprimanded for kissing a female employee on the cheek in 2013. An employee also complained about his conduct in 2008.

City Attorney Karl Hall says Campbell was an at-will employee and he doesn’t need to give a reason for his termination.

Campbell says the joke wasn’t aimed at the officer and has filed an age and race discrimination complaint against the city.
