CASPER, Wyo. (AP) - A task force looking at the Wyoming Game and Fish Department has canceled its final meeting pending an audit.

The Casper Star-Tribune reports (https://bit.ly/1JhaX7P ) that the Governor’s Fish and Wildlife Task Force will not meet again to discuss solutions until the Game and Fish Department undergoes a formal audit.

The committee was formed in April in hopes of finding solutions to the department’s budget issues. Game and Fish has been plagued by funding problems since 2013, when the state Legislature denied the department’s request to increase fishing and hunting license fees.

The department is projected to begin running out of money as soon as 2018.

Task force officials say the audit will likely take between three and six months, with any proposed legislation waiting until 2016.
