DULUTH, Minn. (AP) - A man who survived a lightning strike continues to make progress in his recovery from critical injuries in Duluth.

Jay Mott is at a Duluth hospital, rehabilitating from the June accident on the Iron Range.

The 51-year-old Virginia man was hit by lightning while leaving a Little League game near Cherry Town Hall with his 4-year-old daughter, Ava, June 28. Mott was holding the girl as they headed for their vehicle during a storm. Mott took the brunt of the lightning strike. Ava was treated for burns to her right arm and leg.

Mott’s niece, Melinda Brooks, tells WDIO-TV (https://bit.ly/1USGNf0 ) that her uncle is expected to be in rehab until the end of October, then continue therapy at home. Family members say he’s learning how to walk again and has been talking.
