ANCHORAGE, Alaska (AP) - A 25-year-old Eagle River man fell to his death Tuesday night from a cliff near Eklutna on Anchorage’s north side.

Anchorage police say Jeremiah Tikiun was with friends when he fell from a cliff across a road from a water treatment plant.

Police say alcohol may have been a factor in the incident.

Tikiun was sitting on a rock near the edge of the cliff off Mile 1.5 Eklutna Lake Road when he fell and tumbled several hundred feet.

Another person in the group called police just before 9:30 p.m.

Low light prevented recovery of the body Tuesday night. Police say the Mountain Rescue Group began recovery efforts at 10 a.m. Wednesday.
