HARTFORD, Conn. (AP) - A parolee accused of sexually assaulting a state worker in Hartford last year has been sentenced to three years in prison.

The Hartford Courant reports (https://cour.at/1KuTLs4 ) 27-year-old Allen Oakes pleaded guilty Tuesday to unlawful restraint and coercion. He will be on special parole after he is released from prison.

Police said Oakes attacked the victim as she was walking from the Department of Energy and Environmental Protection to a nearby parking lot.

Prosecutors reduced the charges after determining there was no evidence to prove a sexual assault occurred.

A police report said Oakes told officers he was high on synthetic marijuana and voices in his head told him to attack the victim.

Oaks apologized for his conduct in court and said he needs to get help for his drug use.
