JACKSON, Miss. (AP) - The Mississippi Department of Transportation is providing $1.4 million for three railroad projects.

MDOT officials say in a news release that the money will be used for maintenance and improvement projects.

The funds approved were:

- $364,031 for Port Bienville in Bay St. Louis for construction of about 580 feet of new track in the Port Bienville Industrial Park.

- $297,000 to the Mississippi-Alabama Railroad Authority in Belmont to replace 1,100 cross ties, switch tie rehab for three switches, ballast replacement and track surfacing.

- $394,319 to Mississippi Railway Inc. in Fulton to upgrade rail to a weight capacity of 286,000 pounds, including rail and bridge upgrades.

- $389,275 to Mississippi Delta Railroad in Clarksdale to upgrade rail from 85 to 115 pounds from mile post 102.2 to mile post 101.
